Psytrance shows promise as one of 2017’s hot-button genres, and an announcement from Insomniac Events‘ all-trance festival brand, Dreamstate, only reinforces such a speculation. A Dreamstate event that highlights the more subversive end of the trance spectrum will take place in Los Angeles next month.

Dreamstate presents Avalon & Liquid Soul has been slated to take place at the Belasco Theater on Saturday, January 14th. According to JustEDMs.com, Liquid Soul had not been able to perform this past November at Dreamstate SoCal (the brand’s flagship festival) – giving fans disappointed with the turn of events another opportunity to see him perform.

After the inaugural edition of Dreamstate SoCal in 2015 triggered an explosion in the popularity of more classic trance styles in the US, the second installment demonstrated in no small part that the popularity of psytrance has grown disproportionately to other subsets of the genre in recent years. On the second night of the event, a stage billed The Sequence – which featured an especially psytrance and hard trance-heavy lineup – hit capacity during Vini Vici’s set, forcing the security staff posted outside the venue to turn away attendees at the entrance.

Dreamstate presents Avalon & Liquid Soul will also feature performances by Triceradrops, Freedom Fighters, Animato, Barakuda and Coming Soon!!!. Although only a single-stage event, it’s likely an indicator of psytrance’s expanded presence at Dreamstate’s events and curated stages in the years to follow.
