Now more than ever does Confession stand out as on of the more forward-thinking camps in electronic music. The artist label of French underground house DJ and producer Tchami has kicked off 2017 with a seven-track compilation titled Alchemy that brings a new standard of production quality to the subversive sound championed by the label.
Although known for releases that more tenured dance music fans might still write off as less refined, much of what Confession has put out since its 2015 launch has exhibited a more classic sensibility than typical G house and bass house. Alchemy raises the bar even higher. “It Said” by Jace Mek and Dustycloud‘s “Warm Zone,” for instance, showcase each producer’s keen ear for sound design subtlety – and save for some of the sound design on its high end, “Ambition” by Landis LaPace might even win over a techno purist or two.
As the house resurgence of 2015-2016 is sure to finally slow down in the coming months, what Confession is putting out may serve as the next genre du jour for fans of more underground electronic music styles. Listen to the Alchemy in the SoundCloud playlist below and look out for more from the label in 2017.
