Lady Gaga‘s riveting Super Bowl performance wasn’t the only thing that sent ripples through the music industry this weekend. A Houston “red carpet festival” called Super Bash received a bomb threat that forced such headliners as Snoop Dogg, Future, Akon, and Flo Rida to cancel their performances at the two-day event.
Super Bash took place at Music World Studios, a mansion and performance studio owned by Beyoncé Knowles and her father, Matthew Knowles. The event was already shortened from three days to two a matter of weeks before the event took place, but the incidents that took place on Saturday, February 4th cut it even shorter.
According to a statement posted on the Super Bash website, around 11:20 police entered the building in response to an “ISIS bomb threat” and evacuated the premises. This was directly before Snoop Dogg was slated to perform, followed by Future and Flo Rida. Even after the event was deemed safe by the authorities at 12:45, none of the major headliners performed – and the Sunday festivities, which included performances by the likes of Akon, Trinidad James and Lil Bow Wow were cancelled altogether.
Taking into account that the bomb threat had been called in directly before big-name performers took to the stage, sources speculate that it might have been called in by a rival promoter. However, no concrete information regarding to the source of the Super Bash bomb threat has surfaced publicly as of this writing.
